I chose the name of the practice very intentionally.
Apricity is an old word for the warmth of the sun on a cold day.
I love the picture it creates: the season may still be cold, but you can feel warmth. There can be light in the middle of a difficult season.
And then there is pine.
Pines are rooted. They grow slowly. They weather changing seasons and remain green through the winter.
To me, the two words together tells a story about what I hope therapy can offer.
Not a promise that life will never be hard.
Not a demand to hurry through pain or pretend everything is okay.
But a place to find warmth while you’re hurting, to put down deeper roots, to understand yourself and your relationships more clearly, and to grow toward something healthier.
Sometimes healing begins simply by having a place where you don’t have to face the difficult season alone.
That is part of what I hope Apricity & Pine can be.
